Gastronomy

From its clay soils and green pastures, Eure draws all its  culinary wealth and its art of living.

Eure has given the world two great chefs: Taillevent (whose real name was Guillaume Tirel, 1310-1395) and Gaston Lenôtre (1920-2009). These two great culinary artists, both born in Pont-Audemer, created, invented, and changed cuisine forever. 

More recently the triple starred chef Alain Passard selected the generous soils of Eure for his Parisian restaurant’s vegetable garden. He was among the first to confer upon vegetables something of their former glory.

Using delicious Normandy cow’s milk, a veritable treasure of nature, the Ferme des Peupliers (Poplar Tree Farm) makes yoghurt for the best French and international restaurants.  

At the Jardin des Plumes (Garden of Feathers), David Gallienne transforms regional products, while Cluizel Chocolates, famous throughout the world, produces for delicate palates. 

It would be sinful to resist these pleasures…
