The Beau Geste Company
Inseparable from his trademark hat, his humour and simplicity: with Dominique Boivin, nothing is ever conventional. Single-handedly, he embodies the movement of new French dance, and in his own way, presents the works of the great contemporary choreographers of the 20th century, such as Lucinda Childs, Meg Harper, Martha Graham, Carolyn Carlson, Douglas Dunn and Merce Cunningham with whom he studied in New-York. When he returned to France, he joined the Beau Geste Company, a group of 7 dancers from the National Centre of Contemporary Dance, at that time directed by the American choreographer Alwin Nikolais. 10 years later he took over as artistic director, and left his mark on the world. He produced a series of vibrant, original and unclassifiable choreographies. Beau Geste creates offbeat, dry eyed, funny works. Some of the creations became famous through innumerable performances abroad. Transports Exceptionnels continues its tour around the world today, after having been played in over 60 countries.
